Vutharial's Environs

Vutharial's Environs is a story set in the mysterious environs of Vutharial country, where situations intertwine with highly unusual results that the characters never expected.

The main characters are two friends: Alexar, an energetic history teacher, full of enthusiasm and joy for life, and Mirelia, a calm, reasonable and creatively-minded TV editor and scriptwriter. Their personalities clash, but that's what makes their friendship interesting and strong.

However, their normal life changes when a mysterious man appears on their path. Nobody knows exactly what he does, except that he's a talented engineer and physicist. But one thing is clear: he has a strange aversion to people. He seems paranoid and quick to act. But the most ancient thing about him is the technology that only he understands. What makes him so distant? What secrets does his past hide?

Alexar, however, is not in the habit of giving up. He sets about befriending a stranger and Mirelia, which marks the beginning of life-changing events for all three of them. Vutharial's environs, and perhaps the entire animated universe, hide many mysteries, dangers and adventures just waiting to be discovered.

Main characters

Alexar

Alexar, or simply Al, is a 25-year-old substitute history teacher who knows the history of Vutharial and the environs. He's energetic, optimistic and believes that everything will be all right if you just believe. Despite his good humor, his past has left him with a deep nostalgia that sometimes comes out. He's not a full professor yet, but the university regularly invites him to work. He has known Mirelia since university, where they became friends. He respects her and considers her his best friend. Al always gives energy to those around him, even if his own thoughts sometimes darken his mood.

Mirelia

Mirelia, or simply Miri, is a 24-year-old screenwriter who dreams of becoming a writer, but lacks the confidence and constructive criticism to pursue that dream. She is quiet, cultured and intelligent. She enjoys the company of her friends, even if she prefers to keep to herself. She has a weakness for scarves, which she wears even in hot weather. She once studied accounting, but it wasn't her calling. She met Alexar at university, where they became friends. She avoids negative thoughts, but is always ready to listen and help others.

??????, or simply ???, is a rational but abrupt and aggressive man who avoids communicating with anyone other than ???. He holds several degrees in physics, but his behavior is alarming: he's paranoid, always tense and on the alert. His unkempt hair, tired look and indifference to his own appearance raise questions. Description: Vutharial is the most powerful country:

Vutharial is the most powerful country, the economic leader. It keeps the peace and often provides aid to other countries. The famous seaside resort of Irosulisk attracts tourists with its beaches and hot springs.

Historically, the country has gained ground, but currently has no plans for expansion. After the brutal reign of the previous president, the people elected Goen Trizo, who stabilized the country and revived the economy.

Politics:

Vutharial allows dual nationality. The Vutharial maintains good relations with Bergaris and tense relations with Scanbine.

Administrative division:

The country has 23 states, 7 of which are agricultural.

Inspirations

The characters are mostly inspired by real people I've known, but only in part. Vutharial was conceived as a blend of the United States of America and Canada. The country may resemble America in terms of flag and territory, but it's closer to Canada in terms of environment.

The future of the project

There are only 6 comics planned for this universe. We're currently working on the second comic. The second comic will introduce at least two new characters. The “strange man's” past will be revealed more. And also what he's working on, as well as more information about Mirelia and Alexar. We're working on improving the story and art style to make the project more appealing, which will take time.

What is the meaning of the word Vutharial in the name?

Vutharial is the name of the country where the main characters live. And the word itself means:
The “vuth” part is an alteration of the Latin word “virtus” (virtue, courage).
The “Aria” part is the Latin word for “air”.
The “Al” part is a contraction of “albus” (white, clean).
Consequently, the meaning of the word is something like: “Land of clean air”.

When will the new comic be published?

This is a difficult question to answer. Because it takes a lot of time. At the moment, I'm improving my drawing skills and the plot to make the comic more logical and interesting.

What does the name NAV mean?

Originally, it meant something like “Navigation Assistance for VanLamar”. But in Lore, it means “Neural Automated Vindicator”.

How long have the characters been around?

Technically, “mysterious man” was the first to appear in 2019. Alexar and Mirelia first appeared in 2023.

Why are all the characters wearing coats?

Indeed, Vutharial is a rather cold country, and coats are very popular.

Why is Renmar called VanLamar at the beginning of the first comic?

Because that was his temporary “nickname”, canonically speaking, a name he invented for himself to avoid remembering his past. But in reality, this character used to be called VanLamar, because he was a masquerade of a real person (Real VanLamar), which is how he presented himself on the Internet, but after the character had a history, the name had to be changed so people wouldn't be confused.

Interesting facts

Fact 1: Mirelia and her design

Mirelia had black hair from the start and wore a red sweater. Her drawing was as different as possible when I first imagined it. But I didn't like the design because the black hair didn't suit her and the colors of her clothes didn't suit her.

Fact 2: Alexar and his design

Alexar also had a different design. He had a hat and gloves. He had a more annoying personality and was purposely ruining everything for Renmar because he was having fun. The design had too many unnecessary details and he looked too young to me.

Fact 3: One of the Vutharial states

One of Vutharial's states: Dierem, that's literally French: mdr (lol) which I just misread once, namely drm.

Fact 4: The first scenario in the story

In the very first scenario, Renmar was supposed to meet Mirelia and Alexar at a café in the evening, while Al and Miri went out to eat. Renmar then accidentally spilled something on Mirelia's bag. But there was no end to this scenario, and given the characters, the story couldn't go any further after Renmar's departure. So I rewrote the whole thing.

Fact 5: Clothes

Renmar owns a large number of identical clothes.

Fact 6: A true NAV

NAV was in fact a real voice assistant written in C#. So, technically, NAV is older than Mirelia and Alexar. In the old story, NAV never had a body of its own; NAV was like an AI embedded in Renmar's coat.
