Orin & Liraine

Orin&Liraine is a fascinating fantasy story about a world divided by an ancient enmity and an unexpected encounter that can change everything.

The protagonist, Orin, is a simple builder who has spent his life helping the inhabitants of his small village. Life here isn't easy: the kingdom seems to have forgotten about this place, or deliberately ignores it. And no wonder, for the village lies on the border of the cursed forest, a place where unknown threats lurk.

One day, while helping the locals, Orin accidentally saves a young elf named Liraine, in mortal danger in the same forest. But this act has unexpected consequences. According to the laws of the Elven Supreme Court, as well as their moral tradition, Liraine is now obliged to save Orin in return, as the debt of life must be repaid.

The problem is that Orin doesn't need a helper. He doesn't want help and insists that Liraine must go. But is it that simple?

200 years ago, a war broke out between humans and elves, leaving only hatred and mistrust. Since then, the two peoples have had virtually no contact, and any encounter between them ends in conflict. Liraine is faced with a difficult task: how do you save someone who doesn't want to be saved?

Meanwhile, something dark and dangerous is awakening in the shadows of the cursed forest, and the fate of these two unexpected allies is in peril. They're like magnets for serious trouble. What does the future hold for them?

Main characters

Orin

Orin

Orin is a simple but dedicated man who has devoted his life to helping others. Despite his kindness, sincerity and willingness to help, he remains a loner. He has only two close friends: old Frank, who seems to know more about this world than he lets on, and Keld, a simple man with his own problems. Everyone in the village knows Orin and appreciates his work, but for some reason he won't let anyone near him. Is it his own choice, or the consequences of something he'd rather not say?

Liraine

Liraine

Liraine is a young elf who feels alienated from her people because she has no magic. For elves, this is a rare, even shameful trait, and Liraine often doubts her worth. She's kind, sincere and eager to help, but her naivety often gets her into difficult situations. She doesn't have much life experience, doesn't know much and doesn't know how to do much yet, but she doesn't give up and is always looking for a way to make herself useful. The world of people is foreign and incomprehensible to her, but maybe it's there that she'll find something she's been missing all her life?

Where to read/watch

Unfortunately, this is not possible at the moment. However, the first chapter of the novel will be published shortly, and you'll be able to read it!

Countries and the politics of the universe

In their world, there are ten countries, each with its own history, culture and leaders. However, the main problem of this world is the division between the races. Humans, elves, dwarves, vampires and other peoples rarely trust each other and, for this reason, most states are centered on one dominant race.

There was a time when the races lived more peacefully, but many wars, betrayals and deep-seated differences of opinion led to tensions that persist to this day. Some countries try to remain neutral, while others engage in a secret struggle for power. In this world, everyone is forced to make a choice: stay within their own nation, or take a chance and find their own way in a world where trust is the greatest deficit.

Inspirations

For this story, I drew inspiration from several sources, including iconic works such as Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, as well as numerous books and series exploring the world of fantasy. All this prompted me to create my own story in this genre. However, the idea came to me while playing Dungeons & Dragons, where the first ideas were born during the adventures and interaction between the characters. It was here that the first plot and main characters - Orin and Liraine - appeared, and their destinies began to intertwine, opening up new challenges and opportunities.

The future of the project

The project has many exciting stages! The main novel will consist of seven major chapters, each of which will reveal new facets of the world and the characters. Once the novel is complete, we also plan to publish a comic book adaptation that will transpose the story into a graphic format to give a new perspective to events. In the longer term, we have the idea of creating an anime adaptation that will bring this world to the screen. However, the story is currently at the novel-writing stage, and this is still the first step towards a larger-scale development of the project.

Questions & Answers (Q&A)

When will the first chapter of the novel be published?

We hope to release it in 2025, but it's going to take a long time, and it's very likely to be released in English first, which will take a long time to translate.

Doesn't Liraine have a character design?

Actually, there is a drawing, but I haven't asked an artist to paint it yet. And I don't want to show any sketches that i did myself.

Can I contribute to the development of the project in any way?

Unfortunately, this is not possible directly. BUT, most likely, in the Discord community, I'll let a few people read the first chapter to get your feedback and understand if you're interested or if something needs to be changed.

How old is Orin or Liraine?

You'll find out all about that later in the story!
